Roanoke Dads create program, "Fatherly Image"

Updated: Jul 2, 2020

This week's #StarCityShoutout goes to The Humble Hustle Company, Inc.'s Xavier Duckett!

Xavier uses his creativity and passion to fund initiatives to teach love and foster hope within our community. On June 20, he led a large community event that touched all quadrants of the City. Chalk Up The City with Love was created in response to the experiences of social injustice and the slew of emotions engulfing us, as a way to spread love and positivity. Over 500 pictures from across Roanoke were shared on #ChalkitupRoanoke. People from all backgrounds participated in sharing a unified message of love. In addition to this Saturday evening event, Xavier organized a Community Clean-Up at the Villa Heights Recreation Center.

Xavier exemplifies the hustler spirit and humble mentality through serving others. In 2015, Xavier founded Humble Hustle Clothing Company. It began as a simple idea that would fund the programs and initiatives of the non-profit organization. Since then Xavier and his team can be found out in the community giving back. Their non-profit initiatives include Pretty Humble- a girls entrepreneurship program that helps provide scholarships for young girls, Humble Hikes exposing inner city youth to life-changing hikes and opportunities. During the year, they provided 750 backpacks filled with school supplies and coats to underprivileged youth in our community. In response to COVID-19, the Humble Eats project was formed where they collaborated with local restaurants to provide over 525 meals to youth and families.
